What Is Field Level Security and why do we need it?
Field Level Security allows administrators of a system to limit which users can make changes to selected fields.
With BC X-RAY you can setup Field Level Security on all fields on all pages in standard Business Central, but it doesn’t stop there!
With the help of a Business Central partner, the feature can even be easily added to your own custom fields and 3rd party extensions.
Our Field Level Security solution helps you prevent undesired changes to your data by managing who has access to edit specific tables, and even fields.
With Field Level Security by BC X-RAY, you can now decide exactly who can edit any field in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and ensure your data stays clean, consistent, and secure.
Why it matters
Business Central offers robust permission controls, but they stop at table level, and do not offer limitations at field level. For many companies, that’s often not enough.
With BC Xray’s Field Level Security, you can:

You are offered two types of limitations:

It is possible to select individual users to permit or restrict, but we ALSO support custom security and user groups . That helps administrators in larger organisations to easily setup uniform security parameters for many users.

Is it Complicated to Setup?
No, not at all. With BC X-RAY, setting up field-level permissions is very easy:
1) Go to the page you want to setup field-level permissions
2) Press ALT+C to open BC X-RAY
3) Select the field you want to control (on any page).
4) Decide if you want to specify users who can edit or cant edit
5) Specify the user(s) or User Group(s)
6) Activate the feature
That’s it! The limitation is now activated in company in Business Central.
